Characterizing the
摘要:Characterizing the sweet spot region is crucial for the exploration and development of unconventional shale gas. Traditional seismic methods often struggle to predict these regions due to the anisotropic characteristics of shale reservoirs, including variations in porosity, rock-physics properties, high total organic carbon (TOC) content, fracture development, and brittleness index (BI). To address these challenges, this study integrates TOC and BI with multiscale fracture prediction to refine the sweet spot of the shale gas field. First, the offset vector tile seismic gather is used for prestack elastic parameter inversion. Next, the TOC content and BI are derived, followed by the prediction of multiscale fractures using prestack anisotropic parameter inversion and poststack multiattribute analysis. The combined results are then used to characterize shale gas reservoirs and determine the distribution of sweet spot areas. Field application demonstrates that high TOC content is a strong indicator of shale gas enrichment, whereas a high BI suggests a reservoir's ability to fracture. However, findings also reveal that large-scale fracture development zones are less favorable for shale gas accumulation, whereas small-scale fracture zones provide optimal conditions for shale gas reservoirs.
