Poroelastic analysis of AVO attributes - Effects of inhomogeneous rock properties based on rock physics model

摘要:Seismic wave reflection energy is related to the reservoir parameters such as porosity and fluid saturation, for years, geophysicists have noticed that low-frequency seismic anomalies always associated with hydrocarbon reservoirs. In this abstract, we studied characteristics of the magnitude and phase angle of NI, and the AVO gradient, intercept and their sum of squares from an interface between a nondispersive medium and a dispersive medium. We consider the relations between porosity, permeability, dry-rouck moduli, shallow and deep reservoir condition, which will represent a more realistic situation. High porosity will lead to larger AVO gradient but lower intercept. Compared to porosity variation the frequency variation is insensitive. As for partial saturation, when the water saturation is lager than 0.4, the AVO attributes present a dispersion at seismic frequencies, especially shallow reservoirs. The measurements of the AVO gradient, intercept and their sum of squares, with the constraint of frequency provide a potential way to predict the fluids saturation quantitatively.
