A new drilling fluid technology based on supramolecular chemistry
摘要:The theory of supramolecular chemistry was introduced to make electrolyte ions (Na+ and Cl-) in the saline environment to promote the extension of polymer molecular chains through the electrostatic attraction between electrolyte ions and the anionic and cationic groups of polyelectrolytes. In this way, brine becomes a good solvent for polymers, which changes the research approach from salt resistant polymer to salt-responsive polymer. Then the supramolecular rheological modifier and supramolecular filtrate reducer were developed, and a supramolecular drilling fluid system was formed mainly based on these two additives. The results show that the supramolecular drilling fluid maintains excellent recovery performance after high shear. Compared with common polymer drilling fluids, the supramolecular drilling fluid exhibits lower viscosity at extremely high shear rate, and its rheological properties are closer to the ideal range. Additionally, the permeability recovery value of supramolecular drilling fluid reaches above 90%, showing good high temperature resistance and tolerance to bentonite. The field application tests of supramolecular drilling fluid were conducted in 5 wells of Xinjiang oilfield. In these 5 wells, the reduction rate of downhole complex conditions is 97.66%, and the average rate of penetration is increased by 1.08-1.75 m/h.The decrease rate of well diameter expansion in the reservoir interval is between 18.29%-32.20%, compared with other wells in this region. Consequently, the supramolecular drilling fluid system plays an important role in solving the resistance to salt invasion of drilling fluids, improving the rheology of drilling fluids, and increasing the efficiency of jet drilling, which could become a new direction for the development of drilling fluids.
