Prediction of ROP-Increasement and Lost Circulation Prevention Effect by Drilling Fluid Based on GS-XGBoost

摘要:Drilling fluid plays an important role in drilling engineering, with its performance being closely related to both the rate of penetration(ROP)-increasement and the prevention of lost circulation, predicting the effect of ROP-increasement and lost circulation by drilling fluid based on machine learning algorithm can guide the formulation design and performance optimization of drilling fluid. Extracting the drilling fluid performance data from the well history data of 8 wells in an oilfield, and the prediction model of ROP-increasement effect by drilling fluid based on XGBoost classifier was established. The hyperparameters of the model were optimized by using the grid search algorithm, in order to find the optimal combination of parameters which could improve the accuracy of the model and reduce the degree of overfitting. The results show that the model performs best when the partition ratio of training set and verification set is 8:2, then used the grid search algorithm for hyperparameters optimization, and toke the well names as the input variable. In this case, the accuracy of training set is 0.87, the accuracy of verification set is 0.86, and the accuracy difference between training set and verification set is 0.01. Compared with the traditional empirical method, the proposed GS-XGBoost model can predict whether the current drilling fluid can achieve the best effect of ROP-increasement quickly and accurately, providing a reference for the optimal design of drilling fluid formulation and the prevention of lost circulation. ?
