Influence of processing parameters on gas-liquid filtration performance of fibrous filter cartridge

摘要:Gas-liquid separation plays an increasingly important role in quality control of natural gas especially for treating acid gas, where fibrous medium is commonly used in filters. Research on gas-liquid filtration mostly focuses on single fiber or disc filter material, with priority given to filtration theory and material. The methodology to process a filter cartridge has a certain effect on filtration performance, whereas the relevant papers are few. This paper is to analyze the influence of two key parameters in processing a filter cartridge, viz winding tension and number of layers. The filter cartridges in this article were processed by a certain gram weight of polyester with different number of layers, which were divided into three groups according to the winding tension. An experimental system was used to evaluate the indexes of filtration performance, such as initial pressure drop, pressure drop evolution during filtration, outlet droplet concentration, outlet droplet size distribution, and filtration efficiency. The results show that the initial pressure drop for the same winding tension increases linearly with layers. Outlet concentration increases firstly and then decreases to a steady value. The data indicates that the performance of filter cartridge with winding current of 0.35 A and 140 layers of filtering medium is superior to the others. An excess of layers has no advantage for improving filtration performance, which is consistent with the quality factor. However, the quality factor cannot reflect the influence of winding tension. Thus multiple evaluation factors should be considered to evaluate the filtration performance.
