Study on crack fault's influence on sealing performance of metal sealing rings of subsea connectors

摘要:Sealing rings are all-metal structure of subsea connectors, and their performance affects the sealing function of subsea connectors. To ensure the sealing performance of sealing rings, it is necessary to study the crack's influence on them. Based on the two working conditions of subsea connectors, the crack area is found by the results of maximum equivalent stress and maximum equivalent plastic strain of normal sealing rings in ABAQUS. Cracks at different depths, locations and angles are preset on that area, and the influence of these three factors on sealing and structural performance of sealing rings is discussed. When the metal sealing rings of subsea connectors are at work, the contact surfaces with the hubs are stress concentration areas, which are prone to transverse cracks in the plastic deformation state. Although the cracks have little effect on the sealing performance of sealing rings in the early stage, they do affect the structural performance of sealing rings.
